“The launch of VermeilWines.com is our invitation to wine lovers across the country to log on and experience our line of fine wines,” said Vermeil. “My father and grandfather instilled in me a deep appreciation for wine and I am excited to share my passion with others.”
“I am proud of the wines we have produced from the Frediani Vineyard here in the Napa Valley,” said Smith. “The website offers a unique opportunity to learn about Dick Vermeil’s Calisotga ancestors and the Frediani Family, all true pioneers in the Napa Valley wine country.”
The majority of Vermeil Wines are made from fruit grown at the famed Frediani Vineyard in Calistoga. “This venture honors my family’s long-standing wine heritage and our lifelong friendship with the Frediani family,” said Vermeil. “Paul Smith has done an exemplary job of crafting a great lineup of wines that captures the essence of the Frediani vineyard.” Smith has nearly 30 years of wine industry experience and holds a degree in enology-viticulture from CSU-Fresno.
Since 1991, Vermeil, a Calistoga native, has worked closely with Paul and Mary Sue Frediani Smith on the highly acclaimed Jean Louis Vermeil Cabernet Sauvignon, now available for purchase online at VermeilWines.com. Multiple Jean Louis Vermeil and OnThEdge wines have received 90+ ratings from Robert M. Parker, Jr., the world’s most influential wine critic and publisher of The Wine Advocate. Parker wrote, “This is the personal wine project of the Super Bowl-winning, renowned NFL head coach, Dick Vermeil. His initial dive into the wine world is impressive. Vermeil Wines are available for purchase online, at the OnThEdge Winery tasting room located at 1255 Lincoln Avenue in Calistoga, CA and at select retail stores nationwide. The Calistoga tasting room is currently undergoing renovations, with the grand reopening scheduled for late June 2009.
