"Starting with the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Jean Louis Vermeil, which is from a site in Calistoga, this medium to full-bodied 2016 has loads of sweet fruit as well as ample spice, incense, and fruitcake-like characteristics. It’s a layered, incredibly delicious, satisfying Cabernet that shines for its complexity, sweet fruit, and balance. You can safely drink bottles any time over the coming 15+ years." - Jeb Dunnuck

Winemaker Notes
Light on its feet and still loaded with depth and power, the 2016 JLV delivers enormous amounts of satisfaction and leaves us only wanting for more. Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc this wine shows a dark purple core with a ruby halo on the edges. On closer inspection aromas of plum, nutmeg, and pine bough emerge from the glass. The palate is layered with notes of bittersweet chocolate, cassis, cigar box, crushed rock and flowering jasmine. The mouthfeel exudes a pleasant tension from the natural acid backbone, which helps draw out the finish. This is a delicious wine with plenty to offer now and in the long run.
