Tasting Notes
This 100+ year old vine Zin is a perennial Club Member favorite. The '17 is elegant and light on it's feet with hints of boldness on the mid palate and layers of tannin structure. Blackberry, pepper, and sweet tobacco on the nose. Black currant, dark cherries, leather and plum are present on the palate with a lingering spiciness and a touch of clove on the finish. The fresh acidity lends itself to food pairings from barbecue to wood fired pizza.
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from Luvisi Vineyards, our Zinfandel is made from vines planted in 1908. The block that we source our Zinfandel grapes from is planted in a 7’ x 7’ grid, which is to spacing specifications for horse-farming. While the heat and deep roots allow for the fruit to ripen with bold flavor, their age and the cool diurnal shift at night bring it the lifted freshness and subtle acidity to keep the wine well balanced and a true reflection of the terroir characteristics.
